About this course
Debate culture is well developed in democratic countries as it cultivates the critical thinking, rhetoric skill and other necessary skills required for the development of democracy. In other words, it features the freedom of expression, the right which is well cherished in democratic countries. In Myanmar, the debate culture is not widespread and intentionally ignored. School of Federalism and Peace studies would like to fill the gap and intends to nurture the potential debaters who are knowledgeable in democracy, federalism and other political arenas. This program is intended to provide the technical knowledge and practical experience to both current and alumni of SFPS, since the students have mandatory activities of learning the academic theories through debate. Additionally, the school expects to have the regular debate club and its activities in the post-training period.

About this course
Myanmar has been struggling with intense internal conflicts, brutal military regime, polarized society and some other problems. As an ethnically diverse nation, the notion of federalism has been familiar with the ethnic groups since independence but it has been strongly opposed and resisted by the military. In other words, Myanmar's political struggle has been the two antagonizing forces battling on federalism which is believed by the ethnic groups that it would give equal status, justice and development. So, We need to learn how the federal system works properly. Thus, federalism has been an integral political idea for decades and it has become immensely popular since the military coup. It can be assumed that the notion of federalism has dawned upon again. For these reasons, the school of federalism and peace studies would like to offer a course named ''Introduction to federalism''. The studies will bring an introductory but at the same time, an insightful learning on Federalism through various contexts.
